Narrative
Family members lived at the George Inn, 139 High Street, in 1861, 1871 and 1891. But in 1881 it was apparently uninhabited, according to the census page in the gallery here. Then in 1901, Catherine Price, aged 51, ran the place as publican. She spoke only Welsh, and her children worked down the pit. (Margaret Thomas ran the Rising Sun pub, at number 132, then.) I can't find the pub census return for 1911.
