Narrative
11a Christchurch Road was the basement of a big house. It was on the north side of Christchurch Road, not far from the church. There was a big driveway in front. It was all a bit unkempt, with a great habitat for stag beetles in the garden. There was a collapsed greenhouse at the bottom of the garden which I was told was bomb damage. The flat was a bit damp and the electrics were dubious. Eventually, the house was knocked down for the flats that are now there, and Gwladys and Charlie moved to a dry, bright, clean flat just up the road, but oddly I never thought it was as nice as the smelly one!
